MeikoVet Prevention Vital – Vital-Check for Dogs and Cats

HEALTH IN FOCUS

Vital-Check for Dogs and Cats

With the MeikoVet Prevention Vital preventive examination, you gain a comprehensive overview of your dog’s or cat’s current health status. The combination of a clinical examination and the analysis of selected important blood values can help detect health abnormalities early and, if necessary, initiate further diagnostics or appropriate measures.

Regular Health Prevention for Dogs and Cats

Does your dog or cat seem fit and healthy?
That’s wonderful – but not all health changes are visible from the outside. Many diseases develop insidiously and only cause symptoms when they are already advanced.

A regular Vital Check offers the opportunity to monitor important health values and detect changes early. This way, you can keep an eye on your pet’s health even when no symptoms or abnormalities are apparent in daily life.

Why a regular Vital-Check is beneficial

Many health changes develop gradually and remain unnoticed for a long time.

A regular Vital-Check can help identify abnormalities in important health and blood values early. Depending on the findings, these abnormalities may provide indications of possible health changes, for example in connection with:

Kidney disease
Liver disease
Diabetes
Inflammation and infections
Anaemia
Metabolic changes
Age-related changes

Abnormal values do not automatically mean that a disease is present. However, they can be a reason for further examinations and help your veterinarian assess whether further diagnostics or measures are appropriate.

What does the Vital-Check at MeikoVet include?

MeikoVet Prevention Vital offers a targeted preventive check for dogs and cats. The combination of clinical examination, haematology and selected blood values provides a good overview of your pet’s current state of health and can help detect health changes early.

🩺 Consultation

Personal discussion about your pet’s health status and individual assessment of the examination results.

🩺 Clinical Examination

Comprehensive physical examination of your dog or cat with control of the most important health parameters.

💉 Blood Collection

Gentle blood collection directly in our clinic.

🔬 In-house Hematology

The hematological examination analyzes, among other things, red and white blood cells as well as platelets. The values can provide important indications, for example, of inflammation, infections, anemia, or other health changes.

🧪 Selected blood values for organs & metabolism

During the Vital-Check, selected important blood values are examined that provide a basic overview of various organ functions and metabolic processes.

These include, among others, parameters for assessing kidney and liver function, blood sugar as well as protein and metabolic balance.

The analysis is carried out directly in our clinic, so that the results are available quickly.

💧 Mineral & Electrolyte Balance

In addition, important electrolytes in the blood are determined. These minerals play a central role in numerous bodily functions – including fluid balance as well as nerve and muscle function.

The values complement the blood profile and contribute to the assessment of your pet’s current state of health.

Vital-Check for Dogs and Cats – Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make an appointment?

Appointments are made as usual by phone or via the online booking tool.

For which animals is the Vital-Check suitable?

The Vital-Check is intended as a general preventive examination for dogs and cats without current disease symptoms. For older animals, we recommend MeikoVet Prevention Gold, as this preventive check is specifically tailored to the needs of older dogs and cats and takes into account additional relevant examination values.

Can I also book the Vital-Check if my pet is ill?

No. The Vital-Check is exclusively intended as a preventive examination for animals without current disease symptoms. If your pet shows symptoms or appears ill, please arrange a regular examination appointment. This way our veterinary team can respond specifically to the current symptoms.

Does my pet need to fast for blood collection?

For the blood test, we recommend bringing your pet to the appointment as fasted as possible. Water may be offered to your pet at any time. We will gladly inform you when you book your appointment.

When will I receive the results?

Since we perform blood tests directly in our clinic, results are usually available within a short time. Once the values are available, they will be carefully assessed by the treating veterinarian. We will then contact you by phone to discuss the results and clarify the next steps.

What is included in the price of CHF 225.–?

The price includes the consultation, the clinical examination, the blood sample, the in-house haematology, the examination of organ and metabolic values as well as the mineral and electrolyte balance (Chem 11 + Lyte 4).

What happens if further diagnostics are needed afterwards?

Should the examination reveal any abnormalities, our veterinary team will discuss the results with you and recommend suitable further investigations if necessary. Additional examinations or treatments are not included in the price of the Vital-Check and will be discussed with you in advance.

How often should a Vital-Check be carried out?

An annual Vital-Check is beneficial to regularly review the state of health of your dog or cat and detect possible changes early. This way values can be compared over time and health developments can be better assessed.
